Borås is getting a special visit from Victor and Evelina from Uppsala! This is an opportunity you don't want to miss. Evelina and Victor are one of Sweden's most delightful and ambitious West Coast Swing couples, and they will offer a packed weekend with workshops on both Saturday and Sunday. The course will be held in Swedish, with the possibility to ask questions and receive answers in English. More information in English below.

För fyra år sedan fann Victor och Evelina varandra genom dans, där de tävlar i Advanced respektive All-Star. Tillsammans började de undervisa och har sedan dess utvecklat en undervisningsstil där de lägger lika stor vikt vid pedagogik som vid glädjen och passionen för dansen. Du kanske har stött på dem vid olika evenemang under de senaste åren där de deltog för att; vidareutveckla sina egna färdigheter, vara domare, hålla sig à jour med undervisningen och socialdansa. De är hängivna socialdansare som älskar att spendera hela nätter på dansgolvet.

Dessutom är de ledare för dans-communityn i Uppsala där de har byggt upp en mycket aktiv gemenskap genom sina veckokurser och intensivkurser. De ser nu framemot att undervisa en helg i Borås för att sprida sin dansglädje och inspirera både nya och erfarna dansare att dela kärleken för West Coast Swing.

FÖRKUNSKAPER FÖR KURSEN

Lördag 25/5 - NIVÅ 2

Du har lärt dig och känner dig självsäker i att utföra de fem grundturerna left side pass, right side underarm, sugar push, sugar tuck och whip. Du känner till och förstår begreppen stretch och compression och kan använda dig av dessa i din dans.

Söndag 26/5 - NIVÅ 3

Du har gått flera stycken kurser på nivå 2 eller har motsvarande erfarenhet. Du är en inbiten West Coast Swing-dansare och socialdansar regelbundet. Du är redo för mer avancerad teknik och turer. För denna nivå ska du kunna göra grundturerna i sömnen och du dansar med korrekt timing. Du ska känna dig självsäker i att utföra turer såsom cut-off, slingshot, inside roll, reverse whip, etc.

500 kr per deltagare per kursdag
150 per kårmedlem* per kursdag

* För att få ta del av studentkårens medlemsrabatt behöver du kunna visa upp ditt mecenatkort med Studentkåren i Borås logga på när du anländer till kursen.

I kursen ingår: 3 timmars intensivkurs och fri entré till kvällens workshop och socialdans.

PRESENTATION OF VICTOR & EVELINA

Victor and Evelina who respectively compete in the Advanced and All-Star division, found each other through dance four years ago. They started teaching together and have since developed a teaching style that emphasises clarity and pedagogy as much as the joy and passion for the dance that they share with their students. You might have encountered them at one of the many events they attended throughout the past years to further their own education, to judge, to keep their teaching up-to-date and of course to social dance as they are avid social dancers who love to spend all night on the floor.

They’re also community leaders in Uppsala, Sweden where they have built a very active community through their weekly courses and intensives. They’re looking forward to teach in Borås and to spread their joy for dance and inspire both new and experienced dancers to share their love for West Coast Swing.

PRE-REQUISITES FOR THE COURSE

Saturday 25/5 - Level 2

You have learned and feel confident in performing the five basic patterns: left side pass, right side underarm, sugar push, sugar tuck, and whip. You are familiar with and understand the concepts of stretch and compression, and can incorporate them into your dance.

Sunday 26/5 - Level 3

You have taken several level 2 courses or have equivalent experience. You are a dedicated West Coast Swing dancer and regularly engage in social dancing. You are ready for more advanced techniques and patterns. At this level, you should be able to perform the basic patterns effortlessly and dance with proper timing. You should feel confident executing moves such as cut-off, slingshot, inside roll, reverse whip, etc.

The course will be held in Swedish, with the possibility to ask questions and receive answers in English.

150 SEK per member of the Student union of Borås* per course day

* To receive the student union's membership discount, you need to show your Mecenat card with the Student Union of Borås logo at the check-in for the course.

The course includes a 3-hour beginner's course and free entry to the evening workshop and social dance.
